David Purtle, MD

David Purtle, MD, is dedicated to treating patients in a way as if they were his own family. This core concept, along with using the latest evidence-based medicine and respecting his patients' decisions, is how Dr. Purtle defines quality patient care.

While in college, Dr. Purtle worked in a virology lab. He enjoyed the experience, but as Freddie Mercury once wrote, “there must be more to life than this.” Dr. Purtle missed the human connection and felt that his many relevant life experiences could better contribute towards the field of medicine. Dr. Purtle attended medical school and subsequently completed his residency in family medicine at Christus Spohn Family Medicine Residency Program. 

In residency, a faculty member saw Dr. Purtle’s interest in working with older adults and encouraged him to pursue a fellowship in geriatrics. Dr. Purtle took this advice and completed a fellowship in geriatrics. Spending time with patients and learning more about their life experiences and what they enjoy is Dr. Purtle's favorite aspect of serving as a doctor. He currently lives in Austin, Texas, and in his spare time enjoys listening to vinyl records and spending quality time with his family.
