Congratulations to WellMed employee Peaches Hall, a 2024 recipient of this year’s San Antonio Express-News San Antonio Light awards, which honor
individuals who make a difference in the San Antonio community through their selfless acts of care and compassion for others.
Peaches runs the Doris Griffin Senior Activity Center in the Ingram Park area. The center is owned and operated through a joint venture between WellMed Medical Management and the city of San Antonio. Peaches is active and bubbly. She personally knows every single one of the hundreds of center members, and sees to it that each of them has the type of experience they want. As she explains, some come for a vigorous workout, others come for a cup of coffee and a game of checkers, while others come for a hot meal – perhaps the only hot meal they will have that day – and some good conversation.
Peaches plans monthly themed birthday parties to which all are invited. She teaches classes and generally helps hundreds of seniors every day stay active and social. Through her work she brightens lives and prevents isolation.
Her efforts have even been deemed heroic. On more than one occasion she has saved a member’s life. Click here to read more on one of those stories.
